Aline Barnsdall commissioned Wright to build one of his greatest architectural achievements atop a hill in Hollywood.  It became known as the “Hollyhock House,” (1919-21) in honor of her favorite flower, which was stylized and incorporated into many of the house’s design details.  The geometric image on this tie is adapted from the cast stone relief of the fireplace mural.
